Hygeia (“we”, “us”) operates a marketplace connecting customers with independent cleaning professionals across the UK. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

We collect the information you give us directly, and a small amount collected automatically:

• Account details: your name, email address, and phone number.
• Booking details: service address, schedule, and any notes you leave for a cleaner.
• Verification documents, for cleaners only: proof of ID, DBS certificate, and insurance.
• Communications, such as support enquiries and reviews you write.
• Basic device and usage data, such as browser type, to keep the service secure and working.

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account, and match customers with cleaners.
• Verify cleaners before they can appear in the job pool, for everyone’s safety.
• Send booking confirmations, reminders, and other service notifications.
• Investigate disputes or reports, and moderate reviews.
• Meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Hygeia, each of whom only processes the data needed to provide their service:

• Clerk, for account authentication.
• Cloudinary, for secure storage of verification documents and images.
• Resend, for sending booking and account emails.
• Our hosting and database providers, to run the service itself.

We may also share information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users. If we introduce in-app payments, a regulated payment provider will be added here before that launches.

We keep account and booking data for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterwards where we have a legal or safety reason to, such as resolving an open dispute. Verification documents are stored securely and are only accessible to our verification and support team.

Hygeia only sets the essential cookie needed to keep you signed in and the site working. We do not use tracking or marketing cookies, so there is nothing to opt in or out of at this time. If that changes, we will update this policy and the cookie notice shown on the site.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Ask us to delete your data, subject to our legal obligations.
• Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing.
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@hygeiaservices.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe we have not handled your data properly.

Hygeia is for adults. You must be 18 or over to create an account, and we ask you to confirm this during sign-up.

We may update this policy as Hygeia grows. If we make a significant change, we will let you know through the app or by email. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last updated.
